Washington DC photo hints
I grew up near Washington DC, and I’ve made many trips (both business and pleasure) to the area since then. So I feel somewhat qualified to offer ideas on photo opportunities in our nation’s capital.

Now that it’s the first day of April, I thought I pass on some information I’ve been collecting on photography related subjects.
We also saw a raccoon, a couple of deer, Brown-headed Nuthatches, Meadowlarks, Eagles, Swallow-tailed Kites, Snail Kites, Hawks, Yellow-rumped Warblers, and many other birds. It was quite a trip!
I usually walk around my neighborhood several times a week. It’s a good way to get some exercise and say hello to other folks. I did something different last Friday and drove over to Orlando Wetlands Park for my morning hike.
Over in the corner was a very large mixed flock also enjoying the banquet. I spotted Wood Storks, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Tricolored Herons, Glossy and White Ibis, Roseate Spoonbills, Black Vultures, and a White Pelican in this one photo.
If you’re interested, you can see more photos from this trip in my Utah album on Flickr. I really enjoyed this trip and definitely want to go back and spend more time in this extremely scenic area.
Good morning, wonderful readers. I hope you don’t mind a short post today with a few more photos from Death Valley. The place really made an impression on me.
If you get a chance, Wakulla Springs is definitely worth a visit. Reservations at the lodge are much easier to get than at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. Lynn and I need to go back more often than every 15 years.
Florida has 1350 statute miles of shoreline (PDF) bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Currents and shoals make navigation difficult so we do have a number of lighthouses.
I think Viera Wetlands is an appropriate place to visit on Earth Day. It’s a water reclamation facility and the very clean water provides a home for many birds and animals.
