Flowering and Finished

I first posted this photo about a month ago:

Goldenrod in bloomGoldenrod in bloom

The Goldenrod was flowering then all around Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. But when I drove back near the same spots recently, it looked like this:

Dried Goldenrod (?)Dried Goldenrod

Although still pretty, that’s a drastic change in the span of a month. And soon even the dried blossoms will be gone.

If you see something interesting, make a photo. There’s no telling if it’ll look the same when you come by again (and make another photo).

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. Please be kind, take care of yourselves and each other – and if you can, make some photos – before things change!

  1. More terrific advice!

It’s hard to train yourself to look for compositions which may offer a different perspective in the future. As you aptly demonstrate, though, what a rewarding result when you’re successful!

Also, the black-and-white header shows how beauty may be found even within a larger composition. “The Beholder” with an artful eye such as yourself reminds us to not overlook the small details!

We are feeling great today and looking forward to a very Merry Christmas with local family, including the prodigal grandson, recently arrived from some foreign land called “Philadelphia” or some such.

Gini and I hope your holidays are safe, peaceful and filled with joyful birds and landscapes!

    1. You are very kind Wally.

I didn’t plan to pair these two photos. I liked the look of each and made similar compositions / frames. If there was a planned part, it’s that when I’m out, I usually make a lot of frames. I review them when I get home and see what comes out.

That habit led to this post. When I did some research, I discovered / confirmed that the second one was also Goldenrod. They do make a nice juxtaposition. Sometimes I get lucky.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. We’re fine here and have family visiting (including our grandson) too. It’s a special time of year, but I probably won’t get back to birds and landscapes for a bit!

Take care and we hope you and yours have a very special holiday season too.

  2. Things are forever changing! It’s good to be able to go back and see what the flowers and plants look like in different stages. We noticed that yesterday when we saw all the Garberia with big fluffy seeds on the plants…everywhere! Enjoy your week! Merry Christmas!

    1. I agree – it is wonderful to go back and watch nature changing around us. I’ll watch your blog, Diane – maybe you’ll post photos of the changing Garberia.

Merry Christmas to you and yours too!
